If you are looking for how many hours a medical student studies, you will probably get a better response in the allo thread...as the majority of people in this thread are still pre-med....

I don't study. I know.

Seriously though, I don't study except when I have a test coming up. And even then, I don't start until a day or two before the actual test. Different strokes for different folks. In med school, this might change. But for now, no way.

This totally worked for me in undergrad too. Unfortunately, once you hit med school it really changes. You really have to study a little bit every single day and then start studying hard core the week before. I'd say I average a couple of hours a day of good studying--I actually spend way more time "studying" but that mostly consists of finding snacks and checking my e-mail. The week of tests, it really increases to about productive 5 hours. But its all relative. You could study 12 hours a day and still not know all the material. Best of luck!

in college it varied a lot by semester... sophomore year i was studying/doing work a coupla hours a day, junior year it was more like 3-4 hours and even 6 on weekends, and back to a coulple hours a day senior year.

med school 1st year took about 2-4 hours a day (outside of class) to keep up, second year takes more like 6 hours a day to keep up. speaking of 6 hours, i still have a couple more to do tonight...

i'm sorry... stu...u.. dy? that's a foreign word if i've ever heard one. although i do recall something like that before the mcat... is it like cramming?

freshmen, study about 4 hours a day (4 times a week) so total of like 12 hours of 'efficient' study time. Don't worry about the ones saying they never studied. Unless they went to podunk state school or didn't major in bio, then yeah you should get into the habit of studying regularly 2-3 hours (and eliminate cramming and stress deep learning over longer periods of time). Just think of your major of something that you should be able to recollect over a couple of months from now. If you cram it all at the last minute, you're going to lose 90 percent of the material you lost. So you're back at step 1 again.

about 10 hours before exams... oter than that none at all... but i guess that explains why my bcpm is around the 3.00 mark...
