I only really have 2, but I lie in myapps and at bars to pick up women.

None. Absolutely none.

Ahhhh!

8 and 9? Seriously? Please tell me you guys are joking.

9

i think there are people with 15+ already, closing on 20

There are people with 15 - 20 interviews? Like.. medical school interviews? I'm guessing you are saying med school interview + job interview + career services practice interview sessions totals 15 - 20 interviews?

Having 15 - 20 interview invites at this point just doesn't compute in my brain

There are plenty of schools who have given out invites, and it's not weird for the people who applied early to a lot of schools to have lots of invites.

I don't like this poll. What happen to people who have 3,5,7 interviews? and what button should they click?

I have 4, and at one of those interviews recently, while sitting in the waiting area, the convo turned to this topic and it seemed that I had more than anybody else in the room - prior to that, I thought I was only doing OK, but now I think I am on track.

Remember that this is SDN when doing polls...the numbers skew higher here than in the real world.

7, but a person could have way more if they applied to more schools. I only finished secondaries for like 10 or 11 schools.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

i'm so sorry i made this poll half asleep and wasn't really giving it too much though LOL oh man... good laugh

And it also depends on how early one applied, and how fast they sent back secondaries, and it also depends on the mix of schools...some schools have only just begun issuing invites, others haven' sent out any, whereas others have been handing them out since late July / early August...

This doesn't hold true for me (or for most normal human beings I think).. I applied to lots of schools (over 30) earliest possible in the cycle but I don't have 15 invites

This thread makes me sad.

I have -1 interviews, the school gave me a super secret phone number to inquire about my app, weird thing is when I call it the local vocational school answers. Should I be worried?

Zero.

Applied to 20ish. 1 Hold. 0 Rejections.

The silence is deafening.

I don't know if number of interview invites matters. If you do more than 10 in total, you are probably wasting a lot of time and applying to too many safety schools.

idk, for me, the financial aspect of school is pretty important. much more so than the name or blah blah blah. going on a few more interviews, and saving 5k by going to the cheapest school per year (20k+ over the course) is worth way more than the time and money of an interview, but thats just me/my priorities

I also have none. But, idk, I'm not stressed about it. I'm guessing schools take longer to review secondaries by this point in the cycle. I'll be a little worried in a month. I'm actually hoping they take their time. I need a breather before I start preparing for interviews and I'm trying to get stuff done with my research so I'd like less distractions if possible.

Guys, it is still early in the interview season. If your application is reasonably competitive, then there is no reason to get anxious or worried. I am a 3rd year med student. My college premed committee would not even interview me until mid-September, and I was not complete until early October when the committee letter was sent together with my individual letters of recommendation.

I did not receive my first interview invitation until late October. I applied to 17 schools and I had 10 interviews and 6 acceptances. I had three interviews in February which resulted in two of my acceptances.

So try to realize that it is a long interview season and don't panic if you don't have any interviews yet. It will happen. Good luck.

I applied to like 13 schools, and all but one have sent out interview invites. Everyone says "it's still early in the interviewing season so there's still plenty of time," but my concern is that since I did not get an invite in the first round when my application was in, it means that they put me in a "maybe pile" off to the side, and as more applicants submit secondaries, they will be the first to receive interviews, and we in the "maybe pile" are ignored until the end of the interview season when the committees remember us and say "oh yeah, well, we already filled up all our slots, so throw that pile into the furnace!" It seems like if you don't get an interview shortly after your file is complete at a school, you have little to no chance of getting accepted there...

That may have been one of the most disheartening posts I've read. :smack:

I have 13 (all US allo). I am non-trad and was honestly unsure if I would get any. I even submitted the ACOMAS (not yet verified) for DO schools in case I got no MD interviews.

Now all I need is an acceptance. I realize the odds are to my favor, but certainly not taking anything for granted.

This post just made me feel so much better in this crazy SDN world.

Thanks for the post searun. 👍 Appreciate it.

I have one, which I got like 4 days after my application was sent in... and nothing after that. :/ I'm really hoping for another one (or more than one!), although the interview at the one school went great. If I get accepted, it won't matter if it was my only interview. ^.^

I have 4. Damn, I can't believe so many people still have 0. I really should be grateful for what I have.

For people from the last app cycle: did you get any eventual interviews from schools you were complete at for months with no word?

Don't get depressed people I think # of interview invites depend on lots of things.. If you've applied to only top 10 schools chances are you'll have less interview invites that IS people who applied to state schools and people who applied to lots of safety schools (if there is such thing)..

And, it's only September

Applied to 13 schools and got 5 interviews so far--but a lot of that comes from the fact that I applied broadly. I originally thought I was this badass applicant (I was getting pretty arrogant) but reading these forums gave me a much needed slap in the face and I applied broadly.

For those of you with no interviews, I hope you do well. I can imagine how tough it is to be in your situation. And keep in mind that you can always ask the schools how you can improve and reapply next year. Don't be embarrassed by being rejected: I'm 26 and was rejected from med school in 2003. Those intervening years let me grow up a bit and I think I'll be a better doctor because of it. And isn't that the goal--to be the best damn doctor you can be?

Just enjoy the ride and make the best of it!

Remember it's still early in the process. Don't lose hope.

zero 🙁 but my LoRs just got turned in last friday

word, i assumed the same. i applied to aacomas and thought about carib also

I wonder for people who have more than 10 interviews whether the list goes like this:

JHU
Harvard
Baylor
Washington U
UPenn
UPitt
Brown
Duke
Cornell
Northwestern
Mayo
UCSF

i can only imagine

I have been fortunate to have been offered 4 interview invites so far, and I have attended 1.

so many people have voted!! yes!

It's weirdly comforting to know lots of people are on the same boat :scared:

I'm at 12 and extremely grateful. I've attended 6. Being from Texas helps the count. 🙂

Hmmm... I'm at 14 now with 3 of the schools on your list. I don't think it's possible to get over 10 interviews at top 10 schools. 🙂

In all seriousness, I am very grateful and wanted to know if anyone had any advice on how to "seal the deal?" I would feel pretty bad if I went to 14 interviews with no result. I have been on 4 so far, and seem to have done a good job of staying calm. I practiced a lot of the old interview questions, but really prepared more a list of "talking points" than rehearsed speeches so that I don't seem canned. Any advice?
