Hey guys and gals,

Just curious as to how many interview invitations you have received and also how many you plan on attending?

I have received 5 interview invites and plan on attending them all. This process is getting extremely expensive, luckily some are instate so that I can just make the drive. I only sent 7 secondaries so at least I wont have to spend that much more thankfully because my bank account is dwindling fast 😱

8 invites... 7 maybe 8 attendances

i've had 15 invites thus far. i cancelled one and with probably cancel at least one other but am definitely going to attend at least 12 by the time this is done.
i don't even want to think about how much this whole process will have cost me.....

I see you got your UPenn interview. Congrats 👍.

Yes!! Thanks. When I got it, one of my co-workers said "wow i've never seen you this excited."

Sweet! It looks like you were complete several weeks before I was, so I can at least hold out hope for a little while longer...

Yeah, Congrats CarleneM! Incredible school!

ahh yes... the epitome of gunner threads... all we need next is a "how many acceptances do you have?" thread... such is the anonymity of the internet. 😛

so as not to be accused of going off topic: 15 invites, attended 13, spent an insane amount of money, glad I never have to do it again.

10+ invites?! how many schools did you guys apply to?

15 😛

someone told me I wouldn't get in unless I applied to at least 15. Let me tell you, in the words of Lisa Simpson "She lied, she lied!" 😉

8 invites out of 8 applied, attended 7 of them. I was able to schedule 3 in one plane trip, 2 in another and was able to stay with my parents or my boyfriend when I was there, so I was lucky in terms of expense. These are all Texas schools but I'm living in Georgia for school.

congrats carlene! i know this is your top choice so that makes it pretty sweet, especially when your top choices are difficult to get in to.

you only got 5 interview invites with your qualifications, pinkertinkle? are you serious?

I'm for real, must be my lack of hardcore ECs.

it might be, but at least you've gotten acceptances at great schools and that's all that matters in the end. i have a serious lack of ec's as well because i played a div. I sport and had no time to spare. everything i did was just during the summer.

Yup, I don't understand why med schools like the kids that have been spending all their spare time in a lab or volunteering. College is about growing, learning and trying out many different things to see what you like.

with the caveat that some people might actually enjoy lab work or volunteering.

But it will all be worth it if you get into the Turd! 👍 :luck:

hey now, i got to "the turd"... 🙂 but yeah, if i get in, i'll go, "woah, that's pretty sweet" in a napoleon dynamite voice.

You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Med schools only want applicants who have great skills.

LOL! just send the schools a drawing of themselves that's probably the best drawing you've ever done and you'll be able to freakin' go wherever you want to go, gosh. 👍

11 invites but I cancelled one. 10 actual interviews = I am broke now. 👍

Yeah, tell me about it. Stupid interviews 😡

11 invites, went on 10 of 'em.

12 invites -> went to/am going on 11 of them -> 0 acceptance

19 invites, went to 9, cancelled the rest.

Alright, but it will take me three hours to shade the upper lip of each adcom member.

Interviewer: So what did you do last summer?

ME: I was in alaska hunting wolverines with my uncle

Interviewer: Did you kill any of them?

Me: Yeah like 50 of them they were attacking my cousins what would you do in that situation?

Interviewer: What did you kill them with?

Me: A Freakin 12 guage what do ya think!

haha, which proceeded with ND getting beat up by the jock.

Napoleon Dynamite wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. Fell asleep twice watching it.

6 invites, attended them all. Spent millions of dollars on cabs alone. 'K, maybe I exaggerate, but it's been a bunch of dough. How can you people do 10 or more? Did you knock off a bank? I was gonna, but I had to go to work.

Of course, there are four schools I still haven't heard from. My optimistic and spending side think I'll get at least one of those, maybe two, but my pessimistic side says that's it.

The suspense...

I paid for them by diverting my salary (aka bar money) to interview money. 👍 Just kidding, thanks DAD!

i got rejected by ucla today and just a little while later my mom calls and asks me how my day was going, and i respond, "the worst day of my life, what do you think?"

of course, she didn't get it... she thought i was completely distraught about ucla and tried to console me like i was a 2-year-old.

haha. so i told my mom(highschool english teacher) she should see napoleon dynamite. she and my dad went to see it and she was laughing so hard at points my dad had to keep quieting her down. they also were the only people at that showing to stay all the way through the credits for the bonus ending. for christmas,i got them the dvd which we watched (third time i'd seen it) christmas night after all the guests had left. you should show it to your mom! maybe she'd like it.

Aww, I am sorry, constructor. 🙁 It's UCLA's loss. Maybe this will cheer you up:

"I love technology, but not as much as you, you see ... But I STILL love technology ... Always and forever."

I couldn't find a better "encouraging" line from Napoleon, sorry!

i'd call playing a D-I sport a pretty big-time EC. i'd imagine med schools would take that time committment into account, and anything you did in the summers should be gravy, but i've been wrong before. what sport did you play (just curious)?

your mastery and application of lines from napoleon dynamite to real life is truly staggering.

thanks for your consolation by the way - i appreciate it. i did feel from the beginning, however, that ucla wasn't going to work out for me because they seem like people who are extremely interesting (davis is also a little bit like that), and that didn't work out in my favor.

Haha, thanks. I won the movie as a White Elephant gift at Christmastime (having never seen it) and watched it three times over break! 😀 😳
