Or it's bc he thinks India is cheap and he can get women easily there.

I said after I retire.

And here's our proof arks a troll

Wake up, fancy. We don't belong here, and we never will. Just look at the Curt Clawson gaffe. It just confirms what we already knew: Americans see us as outsiders, and only whites are counted as Americans.

I, for one, am sick of being in a country that doesn't want me in it. My parents are already counting down the time until they leave the West behind and go back to their home. And I want to go home too.

I...I can't even rn. This stuff makes me raging angry. @touchpause13 is married. I'm in a long term relationship. With MEN. We find each other attractive. BFD. I don't think there's anything remotely "gross" about appreciating beauty. Male or female.

There isn't. In fact, much more of it should occur 😉

Besides, it'll be no different than sitting in med school. Everyone ITT sees men kissing women, women kissing women and men kissing men day in and day out anyway 😛

Ugh, they are indeed cringeworthy. The overly PC police makes people in their same group embarrassed...
As if medical school isn't stressful enough, I'm amazed by people who continue to be ridiculously PC and have others walk on eggshells for them. Then they wonder why no one likes them and no one wants to study with them, etc.

This country wants Indians in them. Lots of places(big cities) in the US have large Indian communities.

Since when doesn't the U.S. wants Indians. Don't act like you're being discriminated against, Ark, come on. If we really didn't like you guys we'd stick you on the reservation with the other 'Indians.' 😉

Your parents are going behind for a different reason than you are, and you know it. Don't try to pin it on "Americans". Whether you like it or not, you ARE American. And no amount of samosas or chicken vindaloo will change that. You only want to go back to run away from your problems. You won't be "accepted" any more there than here just bc of your skin color.

If anything aren't Indians held as the "model minority"? I don't see anyone hating Indians (maybe, jealous?), and most Indian children born in the U.S. have the same interests in things that all other Americans have. Bobby Jindal is governor of Louisiana, disproving @Arkangeloid's theory.

I'm not running away from anything, I said I plan to move after I retire. That's well after things like marriage, children, and spending my life in the West.

So you think your US MD is gonna help you land a girl in the homeland?

If you think that congressman's gaffe is indicative of all Americans, then you are insane. You'll find any reason to be ashamed of your heritage. As usual you want a silver bullet solution, and you think if you were white, it would be all different. As if all white people are gregarious, extroverted personalities.

If I was ashamed of my heritage, why would I want to go back to my home?

Yeah, but you said this country doesn't want you which is blatantly incorrect. Also, if you plan to live I this country until retirement, why leave after you have retired? You won't be able to appreciate the benefits of American retirement. There's also hundreds of other reasons why it would be more advantageous to live the rest of your life here but it's not my place to tell you what to do with your life.

Ashamed of it here in the U.S., hence why you're wanting to go back home to be around "your people" who you think will be impressed you're an American-born Indian doctor.

What's so good about retiring here? In India, I can go and spend my last few years in unrivaled luxury. I might even get my parent's condo (in all honesty, they will probably be dead by then).

Clean water that you don't have to boil due to your lack of acquired immunity.

The nightclubs in the US would be way better though 🙁

You're money is worth more in the U.S. You will be pretty wealthy after you retire, being a doc for the last 30 years or so, and I'm sure if you needed it, senior care is both better and more common in the U.S. than India. And instead of banking on acquiring a condo from your dead parents, you could live in any kind of home you want in the US, within reason.Plus overall health care is infinitesimally better.

Do all Indians feel this way? Most of the ones I know only go visit India to visit relatives and can't wait to get back to the U.S.

My parents feel this way very strongly, as do many of the older people I know. I once had a conversation with my father, where I said a lot of the things DermViser said, that I felt more American than Indian. He told me I was wrong, and I would never be American, because of my skin color. Then he told me about our family holdings in India. And that's where this all began.

And they'll want to be with a 65 year old Ark, because?

Sex doesn't matter at that age. Remember what Plato said in The Republic: the best part about old age is that the "harsh and savage master" that is your sex drive is gone.

Then why go there? He can get girls who want him for his moniez here.
Oh, i didn't realize you were talking about indian clubs. Yeah, unless he wants world class belly dancing.

Tell that to Hugh Hefner.

Your parents were born and raised in India nearly their entire lives. They CULTURALLY IDENTIFY with their home country. That is understandable. You are not them. You were born and raised here and went to school in the United States. You won't be accepted bc of your skin color? Please tell that to Bobby Jindal, Atul Gawande, Nikki Haley, and the list goes on and on.

In your mind, you have equated American with White which you think is the key to happiness, success, and hamming on bishes. You are wrong (again).

Edit: I realized the vernacular is "going ham on bishes".

Your skin color has nothing to do with being an American. There are white Americans, black Americans, brown Americans, yellowish Americans, red Americans, hell there are even blue Americans- look up the guy who took too much colloidal silver, not to make light of it but im just making a point. Were all Americans.

Also, she informed us that the term "cougar" was offensive, because it projected animalistic characteristics on the woman.

She's just being overly sensitive IMHO.

In any case, I think we can agree that present WS and Future Ark have considerable power in the hospital, but outside it, people may be less awed by us.

No, I can't agree to that. At the risk of being criticized like other users in the past have been for such comments, suffice it to say that I get plenty of "awe" outside the hospital as well, even with men that have no idea what I do,

Yep-my family has been here since the early 1600s yet we were immigrants at the time.

Unless you are an indigenous NA, we're all immigrants and we're all Americans.

It may also be upsetting for his parents to hear that, fearing loss of important cultural touchstones in him because he feels "more American" than "Indian".

Oh there's a wonderful relevant quote attributed to Hefner:

Q: How you have so many "bishes" (changed for Arks sake )?

A: I have a lot of girlfriends because I don't call them "bishes". A little respect goes a long way,"

Damn you guys beat my family, we got here in the very late 1600s/early 1700s. You guys must have been on the mayflower or something.
I've been doing some Ancestry.com stuff and don't have the name of the ship that brought us over from England but I was suprised how early it was.

I have plenty of patients > 65 that would disagree with you. The frequency may wane but there's a reason why the fastest growing incidence of new STD diagnoses are in the elderly.

Guess we need to start doing STD screens in nursing homes.

Dude I worked in nursing homes. There is a reason why we knock before entering their rooms.... old people still get busy

And they'll want to be with a 65 year old Ark, because?

Reminds of the time I was in Hong Kong. I went to a American style pub because I saw they had some American football and I missed the atmosphere of watching it on the big screen having been stationed in Korea. I was dressed like a traveler as I had been walking all day long. Some old Indian guy just sits down at the table where I'm sitting (without even asking). I try to be friendly while still indicating through body language that I have zero interest in him (I'm watching the football game, not looking at him). He's a rich businessman and chats about all the places he travels for his business. Finally he propositions for me to go to his hotel room and "party with him". That's when I cut things off and told him in no uncertain terms that I'm not the girl he's looking for and I'm insulted that he thinks his money will someone compensate for that fact that he's old and ugly and clearly the type of person who just wants to bang some young honey cause he's rich. So after that, awkward and leave the bar. Because this guy thinks that a young female in a bar watching football dressed in jeans and a t-shirt is looking for a sugar daddy.

1) He's an idiot

2) He's from Florida where I'm frequently shaking my head and saying "WTF Florida?" (and yes I realize that AZ is almost the FL of the SW)

3) He doesn't represent America or Americans or what we think or believe in.

Yes people like him exist (just like some Indians who think they are superior to Whites); doesn't mean the rest of us feel the same way (esp medical professionals).

Common Step 1 topic - actually that's not true. Your sex drive is the same if not goes up at that age. Hence the STD "crisis" in that population.
