At my DO school we recently had a "hospital day" fair and there were a bunch of hospitals with DO residency representatives there. I'm definitely interested in ortho and I talked to a few of the reps in different ortho programs and each one said that they will NOT even consider inviting an applicant for an interview unless that applicant has done a rotation with them. So I was just wondering would it make sense to ortho programs that one hasn't rotated at? I guess I can't imagine doing 3 or 4 away rotations 4th year and then only apply to those 3 or 4 residency programs in the match. Any thoughts? Does anybody know if MD ortho residencies essentially consider it a MUST to do an away rotation with their program if you have hopes of matching there?
