How many retakes is too many.

Your writing is low but no one seems to care about that. I think its great that you showed initiative and retook the classes you had trouble with in the first place. You will get interviews for sure, and whether you get in or not will likely depend on how those interviews go. They might ask you what went wrong in the classes the first time, but I think you've done all you can, you've turned F's into A's and that's something to be proud of in my book! Good luck!

I will have 6 by May, with a 3.2 total GPA and a 32 MCAT, with average EC's.

A 3.56 and a 30 is a good deal higher than most DO school averages. You should be good for any DO school out there.

To me, the very strong upward trend you will have will outweigh any negative feelings anyone has of you due to the fact that you retook 5 courses.

This is my story.

After 51 credits of school I failed out with a GPA of around 2.0

I took a two year break and went back.

Then I got a 3.85 over 99 credits.

I retook 5 classes, 3 of which I had originally failed, and got As in each of them.

For DO school my GPA is now 3.56 with the retakes. How much do you guys think that the 5 retakes are going to hurt me.

MCAT score... 30M

You'll look solid. I mean, what were you going to do ... not retake them? You did the right thing by retaking them and the smart thing by getting A's. If I'm an adcom, I'm looking at someone who stumbled in the beginning, got their act together and demonstrated through a high MCAT, GPA, and retakes that they are intelligent, driven, and can handle the material. 👍

God bless AACOMAS grade replacement though, right?

Ah...for some reason I thought it was MCAT retakes. You're fine for the cycle. You're applying for 2015 or right now?

I got several interview invites and a couple of acceptances with a gpa pretty close to yours, a 30L and 6 retakes. It seems like your're on the right track. Most interviewers asked about the old grades, so be ready for that. I was surprised no one asked about my ridiculous writing score though, so apparently it really doesn't matter.

I'd be interested in your stats sylv and how your interviews went as I'm in a similar situation. PM me if you don't want to post.
