20... should've just applied to around 13-15.

Despite what I know now, I still probably woulda applied to 22 schools. If anything this process taught me just how unpredictable this can all be.

Exactly better be safe then sorry. I applied to 25.

I applied to 30 on AMCAS and filled out 27 secondaries.

i applied to 24 - and am so poor now because of it! if i could do it again, i don't think i would've applied to less schools, but maybe a couple different schools. no regrets though!

13 on AMCAS, 11 secondaries, 6 interviews went to all of them. I had a decent savings before this all started, now I just want to make it to August so I can start living on loans...

48 AMCAS, 31 Secondaries. Complete late November to early December. 7 rejections, 3 holds, 0 interviews so far. Probably spent as much on applications as a whole years undergrad tuition at UCLA. Beat that!!!!

BTW... I'm not rich, just stupid.

California Med School Applicant Syndrome. We all get it to a certain degree. 😳

Oh ya... CMSAS. Never thought it would happen to me.

I did 40 amcas, 30 secondaries, went to 8 interviews so far...so I think I have you beat because of the travel expenses. This is a prototypical case of CMSAS.

Help a sister out! 😎

Haha, yeah it has cost me a pretty penny so far, but I have a job that pays enough to cover the apps.

I wish interviews were transferrable. I would gladly take those last two off your hands.

That is so hardcore that you got 17 (!!!) interviews. I originally thought it would be cool to go to a lot of interviews that was before my GPA dropped a bit and I realized that I didn't want to pay the ridiculous application fees of some of the AMCAS schools that I was applying too. But I still think its totally awesome that you went to that many. I assume the original pollster meant how many applications were finished so I don't count the AMCAS ones that I finished the primary but not the secondary. I would have to say that without a doubt, having applied to medical schools has made me realize the best thing about the state of Texas....abundant number of public schools (6) with cheaper application feels, a reasonable system to ensure no one hold admissions spots needlessly, and prolly (hopefully, knock on wood) lower admission standards than somewhere like Cali (two UC schools are in the top 20 in U.S. News & World!).

16 AMCAS + McGill
15 secondaries
6 interviews so far

Had to take out student loans to pay for this crazy process.

Very true... Texas really has their **** together when it comes to public professional schools.
