Hey everyone. So I'm a little worried that I should add more designated schools, because I only applied to 4. I have been told that it may look like I'm not passionate/committed enough if I only applied to 4. But those are the main schools I am really interested in and I feel that I have a good chance to get in one of them?

I submitted my application on May 23, applying to UNC (my state school), Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina. So here's my background so far: Science GPA: 3.71, Overall GPA: 3.73 at a credited university. I am taking the DAT in July, shooting for a 22. I have 400+ hours of dental experience, including international hands-on volunteering, dental research, leadership, etc.

So should I add more schools? Is it too late to add more?? Please help!😕

I don't think school's can see where else you've applied. I would hope some of a centralized application is private. But I could be wrong. That would suck if schools were second-guessing their decision to extend an offer based on such a factor.

And -- come on -- you could apply to one school and get it. Why don't you go see a movie, or something? 🙂

The choice is really up to you and how much money you are willing to spend...and also, on UNC's supplemental app. they ask what other schools you are applying to. If you don't mind me asking, where do you go to school at in NC??

So some schools do ask that question, huh? It's a little like "Who else are you dating?" I think the question is kind of irrelevant (like my opinion matters! lol) They either want you or they don't, ya know?

Yeah I had heard that about UNC from several people. It kind of worries me because it's my number 1 pick. I go to NC State University (your sort of rival haha). I think it's stupid, but I think it is definitely to see how dedicated you are. And I'm dedicated, just not rich by any means lol.

Oh and Tarheelkid, I see your profile says you are in Delta Delta Sigma. We actually started a chapter at NC State 2 years ago. I'm president for the upcoming year so it would be great if I could contact you all for dental related activities throughout the year.

yea no problem, just PM me and I can give you some info. about what we do and whatnot and our new president's email info.

Its fine that you only want to apply to 4 or 5 schools BUT make sure those schools accept a good amount of OUT OF STATE students!
South Carolina accepts very few like 1 or 2 out of staters a year...Alablama and UF is the same way! Just look at your ADEA book and you will see what I mean.
From experisence I would NOT apply to those three schools...instead I would try Nova, NYU, and other private schools instead! Just a thought! Good luck! 😉
