Hey guys, I am a freshman, and I need to know....how many hours per semester is too much, but mainly HOW MANY HOURS IS TOO LESS? If I am to take 11 hours, the classes being: chem1, trigonometry, and zoology. (BTW, my university is kown for having a really really really good (LET'S MAKE THESE WEED-OUT CLASSES AND MAKE THEM HARD AS HELL!) science and math programs.

Now, if you think that dental school adcoms would say "oh...I see that your freshman year, you only had 11 hours in one of your semesters? Yea, we are defeniley NOT going to accept you, sorry charlie!" ...then lemme know.
So, please keep in mind that I am trying to get accepted into dental school!

I was always under the impression that taking a full course load was best (which is 5 courses per semester at my university), and that a smaller course load may hinder your chances. I don't think anyone except for the adcoms themselves can say for sure that a smaller course load will or will not affect your application, so it is probably a good idea to email the schools that you're interested in. Also, who knows if and to what degree the adcoms consider the university you attended for undergrad... like I said, if you want a definitive answer, you should ask the schools directly.

12 units a term is considered full time, and anything less says you cant handle the load, or are just slacking.

Its good to average about ~15~ units a term. My first few years I averaged 15 a semester, and my last two years I averaged 17 units + EC. Then my last quarter I only took 9 it was Great! But that was only because I had everything done, and wanted to relax a little.

You want to be a full time student, so tack on 1 or 2 more classes.

A lot of schools have "Weed" out classes, if you can take on more than a full load, and still pass these weed out classes, then you might have a chance of making it in dental school.

I could've passed this summer term, but with only a C. Since chemistry 1 is a pre-req for dental school, don't I atleast need a B or A??? Won't adcoms think a C in chemistry is bad?
