how many?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm only applying to one school this year, only one in my state! Can't afford the out of state so I better get in, especially since they are significantly changing the pre-req's in the following cycle. EEK!

How much am I spending on applications? I think about $100 to apply for my one school.

Good luck!

Veggieswirl - I believe I am going to apply to about 4 or 5. Although I am afraid it won't be enough. My overall gpa is low (just under a 3.3), and I'm still working on volunteer hours. I'm kind of starting to flip out. I believe I'll end up spending about 200-250. None of the schools I am applying to use the otcas.

Shelby - Are you saying that the specifically the school you are applying to is changing their prereqs majorly for next year? or that most OT programs in general are..

My stats are great either. I also want to stay in state...i'm applying to 4 or 5 schools

About 30 schools. Maybe more. I don't know how much it will cost. My home state does not have otcas. I have a lot of volunteer hours little clinical. I will set aside a couple of thousand maybe 2 or 3 k (travel etc).

Probably need way more than that though. 15 schools are in driving range for me.

I applied to 5 schools, including 3 that used the OTCAS. The applications and the GRE together cost me about $400. Travelling to three different cities for interviews was more expensive--about $600, for a total of $1000.

The number of schools to which you apply would depend on the strength of your application and the number of programs that truly interest you. It would be beneficial to really investigate each program on many different levels (NBCOT pass rate, accreditation, teaching philosophy, curriculum, class-size, faculty, location, price), so that you don't end up wasting your money on an application for a program that you wouldn't realistically attend.

I've applied to 7, including the COTA program at Santa Ana College which has a long waitlist. If i don't get into a master's program i'll start my cota in fall 2012.

It is just the program I am applying for. They are changing from a 5 year combined bacholors/masters program to just a masters! Crossing my fingers! 🙂
