How much do grades/LORS matter for ranking?

Hi, any insight on how much our grades/scores/LORs still matter once we are chosen to interview/while the rank list is being made? Is how we did during the interview, if residents liked us, etc more important at that point?

I think it's fair to say that when rank lists are done, everything is taken into account. That being said, I would not underestimate the influence that residents (or interviewing faculty) have on the process. At my program, it seemed that if residents or faculty had a strong negative reaction to an applicant, that applicant often did not make the rank list -- and if they did, they were towards the bottom -- even if they had stellar credentials.
