I'm excited to start a four week observership at a hospital that is offering this program for pre-meds. The description says that the observership is broken down into four-week blocks. One week in surgery, one in the ER, one in radiology, and the last in various sub-specialties.

As pre-meds, how much do you think they will let us see? For example, with surgery, will we witness surgery?

You will almost certainly observe surgeries in the OR. You might even get to scrub in, though I highly doubt you'll do anything besides watch. I would expect the experience to be pretty much like being the doctor's puppy. Personally I found shadowing to be enjoyable, but not everyone has the same feelings. Pay attention, try and be interested, and it'll hopefully be a good time.
