i retook the MCAT
april PS 7 VR 8 BS 10 W Q

august PS 10 VR 8 BS 10 W O

I only improved by one point...but im happy that i did better in the PS which was my major concern.

I am an URM. I have a 3.565 GPA, with a 3.85 my last two years.


What do you think are my chances? my apps are already out!

Hmm...if my addition is correct, you improved from a 25 to a 28 so this would mean a 3 point increase. If that second score is correct, I believe you have a great chance of getting in.

Ha! I see nobody wants to tuch this one! If you have shown you may go back and serve that underpriveleged community, it helps greatly. Not an affirmitive action thing, the same holds for white folk from rural communities. Beware though! I got the cold shoulder from a couple schools who once they interviewed me didn't think I was "URM" enough! At one the dean aksed me a ? in spanish and I answered him in English, the other the guy thought I was just posing after he heard my hobbies (spending time in the Hamptons, hanging out at the yacht club ) I guess I played up my comm. service because I was genuinly proud of it but they were expecting someone else from my personal stement. So BEWARE and be honest..I got in pretty much everywhere because I had high MCATS & great recs, but if you're not honest you can turn a plus into a minus.

just kidding... i messed up... my new score was an 10PS 8V and 8 Bio

so it WAS a one point increase

i am currently working in a homeless shelter

i will be going back to my parents' country this december to volunteer

i am a member of doctors worldwide

i hope this shows that i do want to help my community

what do you think?

I got a 29Q, and have a gpa around a 3.5, and too am a "URM". Being Latino, especially in California, I can definitely see why they need more URM. I volunteer at SF general hospital. Every single time I am there I have to translate for a doctor that speaks Spanish poorly and are unable to communicate. A doctor must be able to communicate effectively to get all the required information out of a patient, and its a fact that URM are more open to URM doctors. Anyways, being a URM will help you, but PLEASE don't rely on that to get in. If you are a URM, they probably want somebody that cares about other cultures, openminded, and has served the community. Being in a "yacht club" and being a minority is LESS likely to be looked as favorable as a minority that has been through a lot (working all their life to pay bills) and has shown compassion for the community. Don't lie about anything either, because I am sure they can see the lie immediately.

I wanted to punch a BASTARD from Berkeley that was Arab, and was planning to lie and say he was Latino in his application. He didn't know Spanish or anything, didn't care about people less fortunate, etc. I hope they catch him in the act when they tell him to speak Spanish or explain his culture. What a mutherfcuker, I swear I was going to give him a beat down.

what a coincidence...i go to berkeley too...but im not arab, nor am i hispanic. i do speak my native language. i did grow up in pretty ****ty conditions.

i got Fee Assistance for all the apps i submitted so far and that helped

i got an interview with george washington even before they got my second set of scores...

what does this all mean?

im so confused by everything

26 is nothing to be proud of...but i did get a 10 on bio the first time around and a 10 on physics the second...maybe theyll take that into consideration?

ughghgh i hate this...but i cant give up
