how much of physics 2 run offs into physics 3? and gen chem 1 into gen chem 2? which is more?

because i took gen chem 1 and physics 2 together this quarter. but i'm thinking of taking the time to do well in each class by taking them separately over summer (session 1 and 2), instead of both simultaneously during spring quarter. Or chem 1b spring, and then phys 2c summer.

Is it really helpful to keep the momentum going (meaning I should take them both next quarter)?
thanks

either way - i'll still be on schedule with my academic plan, and i do prefer to isolate my courses because i see myself doing better that way

I don't know what physics 3 is, as I've only taken general physics 1+2, but if it isn't required for your major don't take it. It's not on the DAT. Gen chem 2 would be very very difficult without many core concepts from gen chem 1; it builds highly off of everything.

I guess what I'm saying though, is which is easier to pick back up if i were to take a quarter off

Did you take more chemistry than physics classes in high school? If you took more chemistry classes in high school, then I think it is best to take a quarter off of chem. The same can be said for physics. Gen chem and physics are just a little harder than their AP counter parts in high school.

I wouldn't take physics 3 if you don't need it for your major. I'd substitute in another higher level bio class later on instead.

As for taking time off between gen chems, ehhhhhh. I wouldn't if it means that you're going to have to take a break between orgo. My school was on semesters, so if I took a break between gen chems, it would have thrown my orgo classes off by having summer break in between them.

What I did:
Fall 2010: gen chem 1
Spring 2011: gen chem 2
Fall 2011: orgo 1
Spring 2012: orgo 2
Fall 2012: biochem & orgo 3

You mentioned that it won't mess up your academic plan, but just make sure that you will have enough time to get all of your classes done and take the DAT on schedule.

Do not take Physics 3. Stop complicating your life! Pre-dents do not even need Physics 1 or 2 for the DAT or any classes in dental school. Unfortunately, it's a prerequisite to get into dental school.
Obviously it would make sense to take your classes in order, but you don't have to do it that way. I took Physics 2 before Physics 1 and got an A. However, not everyone has it going on like I do lol.

Focus on getting all A's on your prerequisites right now. I don't care in which order you do it, BUT GET IT DONE WITH ALL A'S.

Wait, I'm on the quarter system. Or did I completely get it wrong? I thought I needed "1 Year of physics" (2 sem or 3 quarters)? So physics 3 would be my 3rd quarter.

My bad, and you're correct since you are on a quarter system then it's Physics 1,2, & 3. I'm glad you caught that. Good Luck!
