First off, good job starting and finishing a project. I'm sure you learned something and that is a feather in your cap and a nice CV piece.
There are many ways people end up with 5-10 pubs in a much shorter period. One way is to connect yourself with a department and basically everything that comes out of the department has everyone's name on it. This probably isn't really "right" in the strict sense, but its one way to amass a bunch of pubs with minimal work. You would basically have your project (and be first author) and then a contributing author on everything else.
Other ways include taking a year off or pursuing an advanced degree (MS, Ph.D). Finally, I know people who have family in the field and everything that is produced is shared.
Don't discount the work you put in. You may only get one or two pubs that way but they will be quality and most importantly YOURS.
