(1) I imagine it varies from school to school, but ... in general how much money do you have to live on once tuition, fees, school supplies, (school related costs) etc are paid for?


(2) Any specifics for UNC as applies to question above?

There is an upper limit to the amount you can take out for student loans.
I varies greatly based upon where your school is at. When I was looking to go to NYU I could take out a lot more (almost $10,000) than when I got into Case. It is all based on cost of living for a single student... so if you aren't a single student with a non-working spouse it is probably going to be tight; otherwise, all of the single students don't seem to have any problems having enough to get by.
