I can take a course that ends in either mid January or the last day of March. Should I take the January one so I can have plenty of time to take practice exams after the course and then have more time to retake in case I need it? Or should I just take the March one and pray that I do well the first time? I'm afraid if I need to retake I would have to wait until May and then get scores out somewhat late and end up applying later than I want. I'm not a good test taker and my app probably isn't that great so I know I need to get my app earlier than everyone else.

Do people usually leave a good amount of time after the prep course to take practice tests and review other books? Or, take it right after?

Will it be effective to take all the extra practice tests before I finish content review in the course?

If you stay on track with the course (i.e., complete the readings and hw on schedule) and truly grasp the content, then having two weeks in between the last day of your course and your test date is optimal. Use the two weeks to take AAMC practice tests and iron out your weaknesses. However, if you lag behind the course work or need some more thorough review to grasp certain topics, you should have a solid month in between.

So I took the July 30 MCAT the day after my last class for Kaplan. I would have preferred to have one more week, but knowing what I was up against, I prepared and think I was as ready as I could be. But I see either tomorrow or Tuesday
