How much time (days wise) do you usually recommend for studying for the MCAT?

I am trying to decide whether to take the MCAT on Jan. (~40 days to study) will provide enough time if I study most of the day.

Or would it be a big mistake and should I wait and take it in early April?

All help appreciated. Thanks.

This probably won't be the answer you're looking for, but it depends on how well you think you can do in 40 days since each person studies differently. Have you taken a full length practice test yet? That might be a good place to start to see how much you already know.

Personally, I started very light review around Thanksgiving last year and then didn't really start studying until after winter break. Most of my studying was during school so I had to balance that with school work. If you have more time during the day to devote only to the MCAT, then you probably won't need as much time (number of days-wise) to study as you would if you were in school with other things going on in life.
