I've building up my Math knowledge from the bottom up by going through all the 'Demystified' books. I just found the Trigonometry one to be very helpful, but I also want to make sure that I'm not studying sections that I don't need.

I know the DAT should have ~4 Trig questions.

Do you think we have to know graph of circular function (domain/range) and inverses of circular function?

OR do you think knowing all the sin/cos/tan (sum/subtraction/double/etc) is enough for this section? I don't recall seeing any questions that ask for more than this on Trig, but since I borrowed the text book from the library I want to get the most out of it before returning.

You should definitely know most of the trig identities and properties, but beyond that, I wouldn't go too deep.

Just curious, didn't you take the DAT already? Your sig seems to say so, and it looks like your scores are pretty good too!

His scores are probably too old for the schools he wants to apply to. 2006

Ahhh, right, I was thinking that might have been the case after I posted. If that's the case, I'd call the dental schools and ask, because usually they say the scores last three years, and that would be cutting it pretty close. The worst they can say is that it won't count, and you'll have to take the test again as you're planning to. If it will count, then hey, you're done.

I'm currently on waiting list for the school I want with these scores and a masters degree. I'll be studying hard and retaking mid-August if I'm not accepted. Shooting for no less than 24s.

Thanks. I'll know the sines/cosines etc. real well and ignore the rest. I'll be nearing DAT competitive soon and I have months to go, so I'm feeling confident in this area.

Well good luck with your retake! But be careful, just about everything above 22 comes down to 1 questions making the difference between 22-23/24, so its a lot of luck on anything in the mid twenties.

1.07 x 10 ^-21

That's the probability of getting a perfect score on the QR section based 100% on luck and guessing. That's why we're studying, so we can make it not based on luck... right? 😉

Haha, well you're right, but I got a 30 in RC because I went with my gut on 3 questions that I would have gotten wrong otherwise because I was starting to second guess myself, and the luck aspect is if you get questions you know, vs, don't know, or if it's a question that's phrased differently - also it often comes to a point where you know it's one of two answers and you just have to guess, that's luck right there! =p (Go with your gut when picking, your gut always knows!)

30 is not half bad. LOL.

What did you study for RC?

Didn't really study per-se, I just came up with my own special method of search and destroy and it worked like a charm, plus I'm a very fast reader. I'll send you a PM with my method later if you want, I'm about to leave for an interview at Loma Linda!

Definitley know the Law of cosines. I actually think my lack of studying trig really hurt me on my QR because there was a lot of it
