NO is a vasodilator. Same mechanism as for decreasing preload when nitrates are given.

NO upregulates guanylate cyclase --> increased cGMP --> increased activation of protein kinase G --> --> --> myosin light chain-kinase dephosphorylation --> smooth muscle relaxation.

If we're talking about the pharm effects overall, yeah: it does decrease preload because it causes venous dilation... I assumed you were just looking for info on how it pertains to CAD. My bad.

Does NOs for a fact decrease coronary flow? I wonder if the absolute amount of blood per min would increase with NO. The whole point is to reduce the work for the heart so it does not need much oxygen, thus less blood. If it does increase the flow, I would think that coronary artery relaxes, so lower resistance and high flow.
