How often should I email a PI?

I’m looking to go into derm and I’m trying to start research ASAP as an M1. I finally met with a PI a week ago for literally 5 minutes; he said he already had quite a few people working on projects but that “he’ll find me a project to work on.” I followed up the same evening with a thank you email.

It’s already been a week... should I send him another email asking if there are any updates or should I give it more time? Or should I email other PIs in the meantime?

I would send him another email and reach out to other PIs at the same time. Gotta be aggressive with it imo. Can't afford to be waiting around for a field like this.
