How predictive is the BSS?

Hi everyone,

I have been reading your posts for the past month, and it has been very helpful to me. I plan to take the step 1 in February. So far I have gone through everything one and i have been doing practice questions in BSS(board simulator series), and they are hard. I have been scoring between 45-53% with timed and ramdom questions. I feel like i am far from passing the exam with such low scores. How predictive are these scores? Do you think I should extend my eligibility period? Please respond and I will greatly appreciate your honesty.

from what i've read/heard bss does NOT predict how well youll do on step1....its more there to consolidate the info and learn the concepts

There's no way to tell, since the content and format of the questions are so different, and so few people use it anymore. It's much more nitpicky than Step I, but it's a good review nonetheless.

I would suggest doing some sets of 50 random timed questions in Qbank as a better predictor. >55% usually correlates with an average score, and 70% or better with a solidly competitive one. Consistently 80% or better usually corresponds with a two-digit score of 98 or better.

I have heard that USMLE world is really good and questions correlates more with the USMLE style. I would like to try it since it is much cheaper than Kaplan. What do you guys think?
