Took the exam 5 days ago, oasis has not yet acknowledged my test date. It's all blank for where it should say most recent test date then score report date. Seems like they don't even know I took it.

They wont know you took it, I dont think, until the test is graded and the score is sent. I believe that is when oasis is updated. The trick really only helps you get your score about 3-4 days early. You still have about 4-6 weeks of waiting ahead of you.

You don't even get the score, do you? Just whether you passed or failed.

I say forget the "trick" and think about something else. Waiting for usmle results can get pretty ugly if you check oasis every 5 minutes.

Thanks guys.
Yeah you can only find out pass/fail.........which to me right now is as big a news as the actual score.
When the envelope comes in the mail I would like to have only 1 big surprise. But you're right I shouldn't be checking for another few weeks if I want to keep my sanity.........

NSH, are you an IMG or a US med student? I am assuming an IMG since you said Oasis. For US med students it's a little different. I actually found the trick helpful. It's nice to know when your scores will arrive in your mailbox, but I would definitely expect 3+ weeks before any changes take place on the website.

The websites are different, the application process is different, the timing is different. Using the NBME application website for US grads only tells you IF your test has been graded. Even after my dean got my score, I could still register for Step 1. When you try and register for Step 1 it says 'try again' until your exam has been graded. The day your exam gets graded you can register for Step 1 (pretty scary but means nothing- everyone I know who could register for step 1 after their test had been graded passed). So the only thing you will know is which Wednesday your dean gets your score.

Wednesday is when scores are reported to US med school deans. Your dean gets your score before you do.
