Worked on board of peer reviewed journal - volunteer or research experience?

Summer clinical experience for which I received a nominal stipend - volunteer or work experience?

Paid research coordinator on clinical trials - research or work experience?

Research I was paid to do during the summer - research or work experience?

1) Assuming you didn't get paid, I'd put volunteer, since it doesn't sound like you're actually doing research.

2) Work (work is considered either paid or clinical/teaching. This meets both criteria).

3) This could go either way... use your best judgement based on how involved you were with the trials.

4) Research.

Thank you!

For #1 I was editing and making suggestions to others on their research - can it go into research?

For #2 the payment was not really a stipend, but called a scholarship or summer fellowship. Is it still considered work?

Any other thoughts?

I would say #1 isn't really research. Kind of looks like you're trying to pad your application if you call it that (to me, anyway).

You could list #2 as a volunteer experience and then put the scholarship under medical school awards.

1) I personally would not call it research. You have plenty of research experience, and I'm not saying this isn't a good experience, just that I don't think it would be considered research.

2) It was clinical work. Per the ERAS instructions, if something is clinical or teaching, even if you did not get paid, it should be considered a work experience. In the end, I don't think it really matters, because the experiences are sorted by date, not category, and they're not going to ding you if you label it incorrectly.
