So I am planning to get married abroad on June 9th. Is this a crazy risky move in terms of EM programs starting orientation that early? Does anyone know of specific programs that do start that early? I probably wouldn't be back in the country til late June 10th at the earliest.

Is there a good way to figure out when all of the programs I am looking at will start? For example, is it a bad idea to ask the program administrators, and would they even know?

Thanks in advance for any input!

That would be a very early start if the program began on the 10th. You'll probably be fine, but prolly best to ask at the interview or ask the program coordinator by phone or email.

once you've been matched just send an email to that program's coordinator telling her/him about your plans and details can be worked out to fit your schedule. we do it all the time with new interns taking June to travel and spend time with family.

Agree with above. I would not mention this on interviews. You techincal duty starts July 1; many programs get you in early for training, badges, etc etc so that you are truly ready to go on day 1. Your new program will be accomdating and if your back by the 10th, I doubt it would be an issue anywhere...
