I'm curious, how do you get copies of last years calculus, physics, biology, or chemistry tests?

Are they required to provide them if asked? Are they in the library? Do you just ask the professor for them?

This answer will vary school to school, class to class.

At my institution, I've had one class where the teacher left an old test in the library for students, but the rest of the time the only way to see old tests is to have older friends who had classes with teachers that returns tests. I've never heard of it being a requirement to provide them, but I do come from a narrow perspective (small LA college).

It's also probably considered cheating for some classes, so make sure you know what you are getting into before you do it.

Unless your university has some strange rule, they are definitely not required to distribute them. Some professor actual try very hard to make sure old exams do not float around. Many of my professors would hand out old exams for practice and to get a feel for the exams. They would do this about a couple weeks before taking the exam. It wouldn't hurt to ask though. Perhaps if you know someone who had taken the class earlier, you could ask them if they still have any old exams.

Greatly varies by professor. Some of my pre-req professors provided us with the previous years' tests and then the current test would draw a few questions from the old tests. Once I got into the classes for my major, the profs reused the same exact test every year, so not only would it have been cheating to get a hold of an old test, it was extremely hard to get a hold of one because we were not allowed to keep them.

Easiest way is to ask the prof. If he says no, don't go seeking previous tests from other people, because that would be considered cheating.

now and days it rarely helps....Back then it used to be all up to the students, now some prof give it out to students.

I had all the ochem exams, and never really relied on it, but it was completely different, but it does vary with professors. The tests that you find where the prof did not give it out tends to help a lot.

To answer your question: Idk man, i always ran into someone in class who had them, some ppl have it in pdf file etc. I actually use to have tests from a class i already took, copy them and give them to someone in the class that is currently taking it, it gets passed around

some teachers post them on reserve in the library. Other than that, asking for them will more than likely get you a :eyebrow: look.

Maybe befriend some upper classman.

A lot of people view having access to old tests (especially if not everyone in the class had access) to be a form a cheating. Be careful when asking people for this kind of information.

If your professor provides you with them then, he/she will let you know. Apart from that, ask for classmates that have taken the class and has the material for you to borrow.
However, I do advice to be as independent as possible!
