Hello

How do you get to West Virginia University starting from the west coast? They sent me some freeway driving directions which doesn't help that much. I looked online and it costs over $500 to fly to Morgantown airport from my town and $300 to fly to Pittsburg. I don't have a lot of money (in fact a lot of credit card debt), what's the cheapest way to get there.

Thanks

Well, I can already tell you that driving from the West Coast won't be any cheaper than flying.
Have you tried bidding on Priceline.com or looking at sale fares on Hotwire.com?

maybe you could fly into dulles (IAD) and drive?

when did you turn in your stuff to WVU and when did you get the invite?

WVU's secondary was one of the last ones I did. Probably mailed it end of August. Received invite today (Nov 1) via snail mail.

I flew to Washington DC last week (DCA) and it cost $330, so Pittsburg is closer and probably cheaper to drive from.

How are you gonna drive from the airport though? Rent a car? I would make sure that it doesn't end up being more expensive than flying straight to Morgantown.

I agree with this...fly to Morgantown...it will cost no more to do that than to have a rental, plus gas, from either Pittsburgh or Dulles...

Hm, just thought of another option - you could check the prices for Greyhound from Dulles/Pittsburgh.

Still, you need to ensure that you don't just save $, but also don't exhaust yourself completely by your travels, and a direct flight may be better in that case.

I have a WVU interview coming up and I managed to find a decent way to get there. Fly into Pittsburgh and then take this bus thing called the Greyline from http://www.busride.org/

It picks you up from pittsburgh airport and drops you off at morgantown downtown depot for 25 dollars each way. The catch is that they only run once a day. Pittsburgh pick up is at 2pm and gets you to morgantown by 4pm. From morgantown they pick up at 10:00 and drop off in pittsburgh airport at 12:30.

That's the cheapest, easiest way i could find. hope it helps! and good luck :luck:

where do you live? just drive there.... i took the drive from texas to va in about...... 20 hours? roughly 1400miles..... only a few tanks of gas.

just fyi, the morgantown airport is the dinkiest, piddlyest little airport ever. i grew up in the area and have never used it.

not sure if that's actually helpful, but...

You're best bet is to fly into Pittburgh and then take the bus down there. I'm not sure what it's called but I know there are two daily buses that go back and forth from Pitzberg.

And then at the interview prepare yourself for a bunch of second years who think they're funny and try to scare you but, having no social skills, totally botch it and make themselves look stupid.

I flew from Spokane, WA into Pittsburgh last year. Rented a car to make the trek from there (Budget will rent to you if you are under 23, I was 21 and had no problems). Driving to Morgantown was easy, and honestly pretty relaxing. Beautiful country in the fall too, and the weather was nice for me. MapQuest gave me all the directions I needed.

country roads.

john denver will tell you how to get there.

From a WVUSOM student - fly to Pittsburgh and rent a car to drive to Morgantown. The drive is just over an hour on major roads. Then, you have transportation to the school for the interview if you don't stay near the Health Sciences Center.

Good luck on the interview!!! Hope you love WVU as much as I do! Questions? PM me

i heard that john denver had never even been there before writing that stupid song.

and jochi, it *might* actually be smaller 🙂 but at least it's surrounded by stuff.
