Hey!
So, I am planning to do the SN2ed with a few twists -
First, as I have an eccentric work schedule, I have given myself 4.5mo to complete the 3mo Sn2ed schedule, by breaking it down into 80 'blocks' which I hope to complete in the next 120d (0 on some days, 2 on others)

I am doing 3 verbal passages every morning, whether I get to do a block or not.

My question: I also have TPRH science workbook. I feel as if my content background is reasonably strong...would it be ridiculous to add in 2 daily PS and BS passages to keep me sharp on days where I may not be able to do a full study session? Would that even be helpful before my content review, even though I feel my background is strong? Is it just a waste of time/effort?

I am pretty much in the same boat as you schedule wise. I am not current though with all the content, so my plan was to stick to the SN2ed schedule doing content then 1/3's. My plan for the TPRH SW is to use those passages after content review during the time I start my FL's in addition to the last 1/3's. I think its pretty tough to say if doing them from the jump is optimal or not as I have no clue how strong you are content wise. The only problem I see is are you going to have time and the patience to review them properly? If you miss something you haven't covered are you going to be able to find the info and fill the gap quickly and effectively? I wouldn't know where to begin in that situation, jumping around topic to topic that I haven't covered would cause me a lot of headaches and probably result in me not understanding things correctly. You did say you feel strong in the topics so maybe give it a test run and don't be afraid to abandon ship and save them for a time when you feel a little more comfortable with the material. Good luck!

I'm also planning on looking at the index to see where things line up...once I get a few TBR blocks under my belt there will be a ton of passages in TPRH which are listed as pertaining to the topics I've already covered.

I want to do this because of time...I can always make 20min in the morning to do 2 passages. I'm doing it for Verbal right now. A full chapter of studying? Not so much.

I didn't catch that in your first post. I assumed you were going to just dive into passages before reading the chapter over that particular topic. I say go for it I don't think I have ever seen anyone on these boards say that doing more passages is a bad idea?

I have tried doing what you are suggesting .......just a couple of passages on the weekends before work, and I had to stop because my two passages turned into a situation were I didn't have time to look up what I missed and it drove me crazy, or I would look it up, review, and make anki cards......before I knew what happened an hour or so had passed by.

You have obviously put a lot of thought into the plan.....so try it! ......there is zero chance that its going to be a waste of time as long as you can review.

I didn't put it in my first post, sorry...this was my concession to your objection (as well as my suggestion for how you could do something similar, if you have time, even if you don't feel as strongly prepared in the sciences).

I'm trying to do my reviews the next day, not same-day...if I get crammed I imagine I will be able to review several days worth at one time later in the week, and get some real studying done then. I only worry that I will get caught up doing this and get off-track on the more systematic SN2ed approach, leaving me with holes.

I wouldn't worry about that.....once you start .....if you are serious it will become your number one priority. The couple passages in the morning won't detract you from the schedule. You seem like a deliberate person..... you have to be to get this done while working. So props to you I know how you feel.

You might have just inspired me to go back and do passages over the first half of my content (on 2nd half now) from the SW! Then that will free up some time for some extra FL's maybe.

I wanted to add about your concerns, if you approach it with the mindset that this is just "maintenance work" I don't see you getting in a situation where you are overwhelmed with the TPR work.

Make sure you leave some gap time between your schedule and your MCAT exam date. Those are meant to be catch-up date. You will fall behind, don't worry we all do. The important point is keep going.

I don't have a schedule...I have 80 tasks to accomplish in the next 120 days. That leaves a break day before the exam.
