What areas of the country are best/worst for compensation? Any particular states that seem to be pretty solid? Thanks everyone!

The best areas are full of midcareer working people, blue collar and professionals with good insurance. No old people on Medicare, no homeless or indigent people, and no youngsters who don’t think they need insurance. Oh, and no AMC’s.

who exactly decides how much each case gets paid for? i never understood how someone figured out that a spine fusion pays the surgeon 100k, and the anesthesiologist 1000$

I don’t mean to throw stones, but aren’t you the one who was hired as a medical director for some all-CRNA group and bosses them around at like a 10:1 ratio? And then does pain procedures in the afternoon while medically directing those rooms, and without a pain fellowship? Do you also have your CRNAs sedate for cardioversions and TEEs while you do the procedure - double-dip, baby!
Yep 7 figures is possible, but the irresponsibility and Medicare fraud present throughout your practice setup (if I have it right) make your situation heinous. And whatever brain trust that’s giving you more than 1 week off a month making that much is opening themselves up to problems.
Side note - this thread is horrendous and needs to be closed. Enough threats from the mods, just do it.
