How to notify schools of planned MCAT retake?

Do i write them an email saying I am planning to retake in January?

OR is writing down planned retake in the AACOMAS portion of the application under "Unofficial MCAT scores" the right way?

Some secondaries dont ask that is why I am wondering how I should go about in doing this.

it is in the AACOMAS app. My understanding from my own app and from talking to admissions is if you check that box most schools don't evaluate you until after your new score comes out. I applied with MCAT score 1 (28) in July then received results from MCAT score 2 in Sept(33). I didn't hear from a single school other than secondaries (which everyone gets from basically every school) between those dates.
