I want to apply for school for fall of 2014 so I need to submit my pharmcas profile ASAP but idk where to get a letter of recommendation from a pharmacist.... I'm taking 17 hours this semester so I wouldn't really have time to go and meet pharmacist 🙁 what should I do now? Some of the school I looked at requires a letter of recommendation from a pharmacist 🙁

hmph. you have long way to go.. if you do not know any pharmacist. You don't want to ask pharmacist to write LOR for you unless you two know each other pretty well... sometimes they can be like 'man I don't like this guy, let me F this guy up' and write extreme negative LOR...

If I were you, I would go do volunteer at anywhere that pharmacists are involved.

almost every school requires a pharmacist recommendation. You should buy a study guide for the PTCB and take the exam and apply to work as a tech in a pharmacy. Thats the best way to get recommendations. Recommendations are huge, and not only that you will gain experience actually working in a pharmacy. One question that you will without a doubt have in every interview for pharmacy school is "Why Pharmacy?". If you have no exposure to pharmacy this is going to be pretty difficult to answer. Of course, money is the motivating factor for everyone applying (if they say it isn't then they are full of s***) but definitely do not mention it as a reason that you like pharmacy.

If I was in your situation and wanted to apply for the 2014 cycle, I'd bite the bullet and go out and get an internship and immediately start getting experience in a pharmacy. I am a late-comer to pharmacy (didn't even consider it until the summer before my 4th year in undergrad) and even doing a summer pharmacy internship was pushing it to a huge extreme when I came to asking for the LoR.

Hey i dont wanna deviate too much from the topic but i have a quick question. Can i get a lor from a pharmacist that is a friend of the fsmily or is that also considered bias?

i would think it is too late for me to go meet a new pharmacist and expect a good letter of recommendation?

i have an overall of 3.78 GPA and scored 95% on the PCAT.... would this two covered the missing letter recommendation from a pharmacist?

no, no matter how superior your stat is, without certain requirements schools won't even look at your application.

i've interviewed couple pharmacists in the past couple weeks and they said they wouldnt really write me a letter of recommendation if i dont work with them. but the problem is to even get into the field to work with them...
