Hi. I got two interviews thus far to UOP and USC...back to back day interviews. I was just wondering whether any of you have any advice on how to prepare. I am feeling a bit nervous now even though I have two weeks to prepare but I think its just nerve racking. So any advice would help. Thanks to all in advance.

heh, i guess i'll be seeing you on both of those days 🙂. actually, my interview at UOP was supposed to be this Fri 10/22 but my interview letter arrived late so i have to do the 11/5 interview for uop. btw, what school do you go to right now? Berkeley here.

This is a sticky at the top of the pre-pharmacy forum: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=93948. There are 13 entries for UOP.

that's cool. what did you do at UCSF? did working there inspire you to become a pharmacist or did you just want to take 2 yrs off?

so what times are your interviews?

I'm jealous of you guys, I'm still waiting for a response from uop! arggh 😱 . By the way, did you guys turn in your apps during the first tier? I turned the app durining the second tier. Good luck guys! 👍

Hi there- I had an interview at UOP this Feb and the format was a little rushed, but pretty much---- 10 minutes each with 3 students, and 15 minutes with one professor. No real 'formatted' questions,we just talked about my experiences, why I wanted to be in Pharmacy School- really informal, I thought. The other hour was spent on a mini 'campus tour' and the other hour was spent on a 'writing assignment' (It was a 'situational' writing assignment.. WWYD type of question- I think I remember it had something to do with what I would do in terms of my role as an HIV and AIDS educator in a small 'town'.) Good luck!

Well i've always enjoyed the field of pharmacy because it is quite flexible and makes decent money. I love working around people and im a big people person. I am very invovled in my local community in terms of volunteering and things like that. I was the head coordinator for inspire, a sub group of OASES, which I'm sure you've heard about.

Anyways I wanted to seek out the field of pharmacy and so started volunteering at the in-patient pharmacy and got a good grasph of pharmacy. I also work at the Asthma Research institute at UCSF conducting and coordinating clinical research. We recruit asthma subjects from the community and the ones that show up at the ED and ask them to participate in our cold studies. We want to see which cold viruses cause more severe reactions in people with asthma. Thus we culture these viruses and then use Dr. Derisi's technology of the microarray to scan for the type of virus. It's pretty cool cuz its always exciting and never too monotonous. I get a lot of patient interaction which is super awesome. I get exposed to a variety of asthma medications because we need to ask the subjects their meds. I've learned a lot in the past year and half.

I was originally premed but I guess just working at the pharmacy and being in a hospital environment made me decide on pharmacy rather than medicine.

What do you do now?

Ah I see..yeah i'm old...quarter of a century...lol...well thx for everyone for the advice. Good luck to all and hopefully we all get in where we want to go....for me it would be ucsf so it's cheaper and closer to home. And honestly I really like the UCSF environment. I grew up in that neighborhood.
