How to remind my manager to get on writing my LOR without being a pest?

Okay, Im having my pharmacy manager write me a LOR and I gave him the form like 4-5 weeks ago. He asked when I needed it by, and I politely said as soon as possible. Well, its been about 4 weeks, and I am starting to get antsy because I want to get my supplemental app in. How do I go about asking him to hurry it up? I don't want to be rude, pesky, or annoying, and I know he's a busy man and all, but..... what would you all say?

Just remind him, but don't be rude, be friendly and tell him what is going on. He's a pharmacist and he should know this is important and he'll appreciate you talking to him directly and telling him what you need from him. He probably has tons of things going on that are important.. but this is very important too and you should get that across.

If its been 4-5 weeks, I mean its kind of rude of him to leave it this long in the first place right? Well just be nice when you remind him.. then there is no way you can be wrong. Its not like you just dropped this on him the day before.. you gave him ample time to come up with a response.. and if he is too busy to write one, then he shouldn't have kept you waiting so long in the first place.

I don't think there is anything wrong with bringing to his attention. It has been a while and you never know, maybe there was some mistake in the mail or mailing address. Don't worry about being a pest. Your just being responsible.

Backey Wackey: oh btw...remember the LOR I asked .. I know it's a pain.. but it's like kinda due on the 20th at 5pm. Once I get that..I can be on my way to a pharmacy school.. can you help??

btw, he aint that busy.. and if not already, he should have a template of LOR..

The more time you spend being scared and wondering how you should ask him, the more time it'll be until you can submit everything!

It was a month after I asked my professor for an LOR (back in August though), and I really wanted him to submit everything. I just emailed him (I'm not at school anymore) asking how the LOR was coming and if he had any questions for me, to feel free to email me back. I also did mention that USC (he's a prof there) was at the top of my priority since it has rolling admissions, so I think he was happy that I wanted to go back there and submitted it a week later...so that bit might have helped speed up things 😉

Haha, but either way: just say that you're wondering how your LOR is coming along and if your manager has any questions. Then just make conversation about how your apps are coming and that you're hoping to submit them soon so you can get an early spot at interviews. He shouldn't mind, I'm sure he'll understand since he was a student once.

When this happened to me I sent my prof. a thank you note for having written the LOR, how much I appreciated it and what a favor it was, blah, blah, blah. That way he felt like a butt and turned it in right away with no harm done. Cheers.
