When you get an interview and you have to write them choosing your date, what exactly do you write. Just basically thank you and the date ?
And the sooner the better. Programs, for whatever reason, seem to send out more invites than they have slots, so it really is first come first serve.
Thanks
Thank you very much for the invitation to interview at Y Program. I am happy to accept the invitation. My date preference is Z date.
It may not be true of every program, but some of the invite emails say it explicitly. And I've had at least one classmate this year wait too long and get put on the waitlist for an interview because the dates were all full.
My question is, what is the etiquette for canceling an interview? And do they really care if you cancel as long as you give them a good amount of lead time?
If you want to re-schedule, maybe include the reason why you're canceling (if it's a good reason), but if you're just canceling and withdrawing your application, say "Hi, thanks for your consideration, I'd like to withdraw my app and cancel my interview. Sincerely, Seward"My question is, what is the etiquette for canceling an interview? And do they really care if you cancel as long as you give them a good amount of lead time?

After you email them the date? Do they respond back usually?
Usually they do respond back. Some soon (minutes). Some the next day. Some might even take a day or two. But if you're concerned, you may want to re-contact the program just to make sure they received your message.
