goodness knows I'll get flamed for starting this thread and people will start saying how little confidence I have. but I'm hopefully for at least one or two useful replies in amidst the insults.

i just got my first invitation to interview and need to make an e-mail confirmation. should i address "dr. X" who wrote me the e-mail or "Dear Admissions Committee"? Should i say i'm looking forward to meeting them in one or two lines?

thx in advance 😳

I don't think it matters.

when I had to confirm a date or my meal preference in emails last year, that's all my email said: I am confirming my interview for the 32 day of Smarch. I would like the turkey sandwich for lunch. Thank you.

maybe you should call them up tomorrow and ask how to address your email correspondence.

Some schools give you a lunch choice? Wow! I didn't hear anything about food choices from any schools so far.

I've addressed them to the person sending the e-mail.

Ditto. I don't think you can go wrong with that. Just confirm the date, and throw in how excited you are or grateful you are for the opportunity to interview there. Or not. It's entirely up to you and I'm SURE their decision on your application will not in any way hinge on how you worded your interview confirmation email. Save your neurotic pre-med stress for the actual interview. Or what you're going to wear (if you want something silly to stress about before then). Good luck and congrats on the invite.

None of what you said above really matters. It is a confirmation. Keep it short and direct. Also, gain some self confidence yea? So along with a good GPA, MCAT, and standard EC's you have the necessary ability to make very simple decisions.

To whom it may concern:

I will be present for my interview on such and such date at such and such place.

Thank you,
so and so

you can ask for what to eat for lunch?!

i'm gonna ask for caviar lobster pizza

I don't think it matters.

not so fast, they give you a list and you select what you want.

Yeah, but they also give you that box to describe your dietary restrictions. Just say you can only eat caviar lobster pizza (due to allergies/religion/whatever), and I'm sure they'll be happy to accommodate you.
