Pharmacology is just one of those subjects you just have to drill into your brain. First Aid covers it well. You just need to go over it again and again until you can memorize all the drugs.

I also used Brenner's flash cards wich helped a lot. There are also Lange Flash cards but I haven't tried those myself.

When I was studying this I really liked the Lange Pharmacology flash cards. I'm not a huge flash card studier in general but I thought these were well put together and very boiled down. Each card has a short clinical vignette about a certain drug or family of drugs on one side and then only the pertinent information presented on the other.

Thanks

I have the Lange Flash Cards.

Thanks, I will just combine the Lange flash cards with FA.

Memorizing pharmacology is harder than microbiology and biochem. I really like memorizing microbiology.

I think doing a bunch of questions is the best way to study pharm. There are particular things they want to know about the different drugs and you figure out what those are by doing a bunch of questions. If you did 200-300 questions in a day I bet you would start feeling really good about it. Also, know those two side effects pages in the pharm. section of FA cold. Make flash cards for it or just cover up the drugs and quiz yourself, but make sure you know it. Same with the antidotes page. They love that ****. All the FA mnemonics actually helped me, and I usually don't like mnemonics all that much. Thats about all the advice I got.

yeah I am in the same boat as you i find it hard to memorize certain drugs more than other drugs too.. Like the neuroleptics for some reason, and the TCAs. Just keep forgetting them on a recognition basis.. I think the best way like the user above me said is to just keep doing practice questions and slow down on the answer explanations so you will better recognize all those drugs later, even the answer choices that were out of scope, especially if you didnt recognize that drug when you did the question..

Sometimes, if youre given a list of drugs, if you know what the wrong drugs do and you know theyre wrong, eliminating them makes choosing the right answer a lot easier.
