Hey everyone! I really need some good advice on how I should properly study for my MCAT. Many people say that you should study in the summer when you're out of school, but I've been taking summer classes every year since I've been in college and my summers are not open for this type of studying. I plan on doing most of my studying during the regular semester while taking classes. I will be taking 16 hours this semester and bio chem is one of my classes as well as some other difficult classes. Since I plan on taking the MCAT on October 25th, is this really a task that I should take on? I'm really trying to avoid the 2015 MCAT while giving myself room for the possibility of retaking the exam in late January.

As someone who has made this mistake before, trying to study for the MCAT with any other classes/obligations at all is a terrible idea. Do everything you can to clear your schedule or you may be stuck with a sub-par score that could haunt you. Take this s*** seriously.

Preaching to the choir here. I decided to become a TA, pursue my honors thesis, take some courses, and work part time at my lab, while prepping for the MCAT. And what happened? A 6 on VR happened.

Do you suggest I take the late January MCAT? I have a very long winter break from school and that would give me a couple of weeks to study.

Highly recommend studying for the mcat with an open schedule. I studied while working 40-45 hours per week and it was very difficult to pull off and I imagine taking 16 credits and mcat studying would be more difficult. You only want to take the exam once.

Haha I feel you, a 6 in BS for me. Taking the summer to actually study with few obligations worked wonders.

What are your thoughts on a retake during the fall semester? I did a lot of content review over the summer but i think i may not have given myself enough time for practice tests. We'll see for sure if I need to retake on aug. 26, but I'm just curious.

I'm only taking 13 credits this semester but I have a lot of ECs to worry about.
