But honestly I'm glad that you've enjoyed your time there.

I don't really understand your point though. Like one of the posters above said, you obviously can't have a realistic idea of what it's like day in day out being a student at a school until you actually go there. As a prospective student the only thing you have to go buy are your impressions during interview/second look days and speaking to students.

Get used to this. You'll have the same problem on residency interviews.

Nope. I didn't want to. My husband and I have spent virtually all of our lives in this area code.

Thought I would update this with what school I decided on now that it is April 30th.

After weighing the pros and cons of Temple, Drexel, and Jefferson I have decided on...






Temple!!

In the end I went with my gut, I just clicked more easily with the students and atmosphere there, love the new facilities, expanding research opportunities, as well as their commitment to serving the unique patient population of North Philadelphia. I also got a merit scholarship there that would make Temple slightly cheaper than the other two.

Lambshakes, I am in the same boat as you. My gut tells me Temple, but everyone tells me Jeff because of it being "better." I would love to speak you about this more. I'm wondering how you're liking Temple now.

Jefferson puts on a good showing on interview day that's for sure. But getting rejected changes your perspective a bit.

I can vouch for Will's. I am a former patient and I received excellent care there. (And do you know how rare strabismus centers actually are?)

However, I am not gonna rag on my school. I am grateful for even the opportunity, even if everyone else thinks it sucks. I have no complaints.

oh... well it's individual preference. in the end, it doesn't really matter, since they're all US MD schools that provide great long-term opportunities.

That's how I am looking at it. They're providing me an excellent opportunity. If not, I wouldn't be in school at all right now.

I've been in Philly for greater part of 5 years (I think?), so I was so grafeful I got to stay here.

I skipped some of the comments, but something I'd consider is where you'd like to live. If you want to live in a particular part of the city, and whether or not you want to l I've closer to the school or not - do you have a car? want to take the train or a bus? walk? Different parts of the city also cost different amounts. Since tuition is so close, and all will get you to the same place - go with your gut, and/or where you want to live in relation to the schools, and see what the best fit is.

Drexel rising 4th year here. Can't comment on the new curriculum, but the old IFM pre-clinical curriculum was perfect. All the time needed to study for boards, just the right amount of help from faculty, all faculty willing to help if need be. This whole Jeff>Temple>Drexel is BS. They're all going to teach you the exact same thing. I'm rotating at hospitals where I am often working with attendings 1on1, being pimped with intent to teach, and getting a great variety of clinical experiences. I passed Step 1 with a 250+ and had a baseline NBME with only Drexel's preparation of 220. Go where you get in and make the most of it.
