Howard Univ, DC - Input from 2011/2012 cycle applicants

I would appreciate if anyone from 2011/2012 application cycle can share information about the Howard Univ Dental College, Washington DC.

They started Advanced standing program last yr but I don't see any posts about this univ. There website have very limited information about the International/Advanced standing program. Unlike other univ's they haven't mentioned if they need any supplementary documents (in addition to CAAPID) or not. I tried calling them but noone picks up.

From your past experience if someone can tell -
When do they usually call for interviews?
How many seats do they have?
When does the program start?
Any notes from interview experience?
Do they have any specific requirments?

I was wondering the same, I just know they have very few seats available, like maybe 8 or so....If you find out something about this program, please share, would be very much appreciated 🙂

This is what I found from the CAAPID page:

8 seats, needs both NBDE part1 and Part 2 , 24 months program

Supplemental Material to be sent to the Univ:

TOEFL Score Report - Official
NBDE-1 and NBDE-2 Score report - Official

Send 2x2 photograph to program -- after being contacted by program
You'll be invited by program to submit a supplemental application - not sure where it is located - I guess they will inform
Send $200 application fee to program - only if requested to do so by program

Are you planning to apply for 2012?
 
I applied to Howard too and received an email from them that they have received my CAAPID application. they did not ask for any supplement application though.

Did you just submit the CAAPID application or TOEFL and NBDE scores as well?

I am assuming they asked you for Fee , TOEFL and NBDE score reports - all in one email - after you applied through CAAPID.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

They just asked for the application fee.I received the email asking for fee last week. They dint ask for anything else from me.

Precious smile and toothfairy..Have you guys submitted TOEFL and NBDE score report or you have just submitted the application fee?
Did you guys ask them if we need to send any additional documents? I emailed them but I haven't heard anything.

I received the email for application fee like you mentioned. But that doesn't say we need to send TOEFL and NBDE score reports or anything else or not.
Should I send them or wait?

they will themselves get in touch with you via email... i also tried calling and emailing them but no response... dont send any fee till they ask, you may want to submit the scores but i did wait till they asked me.

I received the email but that just says that I need to submit the application fee $200 but has no mention about the documents.

Did you get additional email for documents/score reports?

Thanks toothfairy...I was under the impression that they asked just fee from you as per your post on 09/03

That is confusing. Why would they ask just fee to some candidates and fee + documents to some candidates?

Even I am confused now. And every small little confusion at this point of time makes me so tensed. What do you think sentidental, should we call them to ask if we need to send all this extra documents.

I emailed them last night and they responded that no further document is required at this time. They will contact me if they need anything.
So I just mailed them the fee.

I know...its the same for me..I had some bad experiences with some applications so I am paranoid by the process...
 
I got an interview call from Howard this morning for 27th feb .Anybody whoz aware about the interview and MCQ exam there plz advice .

Lets count how many people have got IVs.Others who got an IV invitation plz share.

I got an IV from Howard school of dentistry. If anybody wants to share an accommodation plz let me know. Plz post how many got IV, so we can discuss the IV.

If you have applied to Howard and you have gotten interview or not please can you just write something. Let us know when you applied, when you got your payment confirmation and whether you have received interview invitation or not.

hey guys ......i did not even recieve email for fee or any documents ....i emailed them many times but they dont reply ........what should i do

They hardly reply any e-mails, it is with everybody...!

Were you told if that is the only interview they are going to have or is it in batches?
 
My application was mailed from CAAPID to Howard on the first week of January.
So far I have NOT heard from them......
 
I've been waiting patiently but honestly I don't know what to do!!
They don't answer my calls, they don't reply to my emails. I just want to know if they have received my application!!! It's been a month already since I've sent my application and they hasn't contacted me requesting for the application fee yet.

Hope you all have better luck!!

i received an email stating the list of things i need for the bench exam..however, i have not received any interview invite yet. has that happened to anyone else. Are they sending this email to everyone..as in even those whom they are nor inviting for the interview.

Becareful this might mean they send you invitation email but somehow you didn't recieve it. So it's better fo you to call them or email them to make sure. good luck

hi..i am interviewing on 27th feb..i got the invitation today only and now i am kinda panicked as to arranging the stuff for the bench test..can u plz help me..as in where did you arrange the material from..there is hardly any time for me to arrange for everything..

hey thats exactly what happened..and now i have the interview but no time to arrange for the material for bench exam..they are not providing anything for the bridge prep and crown prep..except for teeth and typho..i will be lucky if they reschedule my interview.

Hi thank you so much for the help. I feel relieved.
I am trying my best to arrange all the stuff. I think I wont be able to arrange for acrylic and
impression material. Will keep you posted as soon as I get hold of some of the stuff.
Will you be there on 27th for the interview.
 
How was the test? Has anyone heard from Howard?
 
I have not heard anything yet..if anyone else has..please tell..its quite a time now since we interviewed.
