Not me sadly. Though I am hoping to be a part of the class of 2030. I will be following you and others to understand/prepare!
When are you going to be in your first year of Vet School? This plays a big role one when you can apply for HPSP.

My recruiter stated the board is meeting up soon then takes 2-3 weeks before we hear back. Possibly by end of February we’ll know!

Good luck, hoping for good news for the both of us 🙂🙏! Do you know if there is a minimum gpa we need to maintain while in vet school if we are selected for the scholarship?

My recruiter stated we just need to pass class and pass navale by the time we graduate. Ideally not to be on academic probation if possible.

I also didn't get it. Without providing too much info, several years prior service, pristine LoRs from high ranking officers, near perfect interview score. All metrics that we can measure were better than someone I discussed it with. They got accepted with objectively lower metrics, significantly lower in some metrics, and no prior service. I don't know what to think about why I was rejected. We both agree I beat him out on everything. It makes no sense to either of us.
based on who i’ve talked to, it seems like they mostly just went to rotc folks

My classmate and I were both put on OML, I do not believe anyone at our school got it.

How do you determine if you're high or low on OML? My recruiter only said she doesn't receive our number on it. Thank you!

I'm honestly not sure. My classmate said her recruiter told her.
5 people were given asterisks next to their name indicating they are the top 5 people on the OML.
Hello everyone,
I am thinking about applying for the HPSP scholarship and I have some questions!
I am starting at Oregon State University this fall and understand I would be applying for the scholarship this fall as well. I have reached out to a recruiter but have not yet heard back (it has only been a few days). I currently reside in Arizona so I am an OOS student at OSU.
Based on my research I think the scholarship could be very helpful to my situation. Additionally I do have a strong passion to serve my country and love the idea of being an army veterinarian whos job will vary greatly. My grandfather and uncle served in the navy and my dad and brother are wildlife firefighters.
Anyways I am curious as to what my chances may be and if I might be a good candidate? I have a clean background, am physically fit, have a 3.6 undergrad GPA, 7 years of experience in vet med as a tech, and have been in numerous leadership roles.
Additionally if someone is not selected for years 2-4, can they apply for years 3-4?
Any additional insight would be appreciated! Thank you

Hello.
Fwiw my knowledge is limited as I did not apply, but did attend some of the information sessions while I was in 1st year.
A regular recruiter probably cannot tell you a lot about the program, but worry not as your school will get plenty of recruiters who specifically talk about this program for lunch lectures, etc. I think we had maybe three in a month span leading up to the deadline.
Your chances are not high in general as it is a highly competitive program due to being one of the only of its kind for vet med. Last i saw it was <50% of applicants are accepted, and that was before the pool of applicants who the BBB fiasco affected. Anecdotal evidence suggests they prefer applicants with some amount of military background prior, perhaps in hopes they will stay beyond their required contract; or perhaps selection bias as these people are more likely to apply in the first place.
You can only apply as a first year as far as I was told during the sessions. Unclear if anything has changed since then.
