I've seen some outdated threads on this topic but does anyone have any new info? I am trying to find a company that will rent me a computer for $500/year wile in the navy HPSP scholarship program. Leads so far:
Hpsprentals.com -no longer a valid web address
Cambridge computers -not taking any new leasers
Patriotic.com -also not a valid website
Studentuniononline.com -also seems to not exist

The only one that I have had some luck with is military PC rentals. But they offer 3 computers: a chrome book which does not work with my schools software, and two 11 in monitors which is not ideal if you want to have textbooks on your computer. Has anyone found any other options?!
Thanks!

Why would you pay $500 per year for a rental when you can buy a perfectly serviceable laptop for only a smidgen more (if any more)?

HPSP will reimburse $500/year for 4 years for computer rentals. They can only be rentals though so no rent-to-own or anything like that. It's not really worth it imo.

Cambridge computers doesn't take any new leasers? Bummer. I got my macbook through them.

11 inch MacBooks work just fine for school in my opinion. If you want a larger screen at home I would get a monitor. I splurged and got the Apple thunderbolt display. Its nice when I need something larger than 11 inches.

Has anyone used militarypcrentals.com recently? I tried to ask them a question with the email on the website and I got an error message 'user unknown' and there is no other contacting information on their site which makes me uneasy to go ahead with the rental process.

Matt from Military PC Rentals here. Not sure if you've rented already but we are offering a wider selection of computers this year. This includes tablets and laptops (with some larger screens). We are also expecting to update our selection as new computer models come out this year.

Also, if there is a specific question you have or computer that you want to rent but we don't offer, feel free to contact us at [email protected]

Not sure, why it wasn't working before, but it should be fine now. Let me know if there are any other issues. Thanks! [email protected]
