I was prior service, 4 years enlisted. I thought it was a good deal to take the HPSP program but now I am in danger of failing out of my 1st year. If I do fail out what would my options be? What would I have to do. Would I have to pay the money back or would I be given a chance to work my time off (if so how much time would I have to serve?)

Thanks for any info

Army HPSP

OK, you have a few options. The bottom line is that you need to work with the Army HPSP office to coordinate.

1) You try to repeat your first year. You will have to do a year of leave without pay, but your benefits will resume once you are back on track.

2) You can request to transfer to another community. The Army does need junior officers in the infantry.

3) You can drop out/be terminated from school, be dropped from HPSP and have to pay the money back.
