I was reading the 2010 application instructions, and I saw that it says that AMCAS includes teh HS GPA. How do they get it?

Do I have to request my HS to send in a transcript?

Should I be worried since I did horrible in my HS?

i dont recall reporting HS GPA. Definitely didnt get a transcript. I wouldnt worry about it. If they do ask for it just estimate it i guess. I doubt they check up on it.

I'm pretty sure HS gpa is where they list college courses you took before college matriculation (summer programs, community college, etc.).

It's not your actual HS gpa. So you're fine.

med school could not care less about anything you did in high school.

lol wut... i didn't even know how to calculate or read a gpa until this year.

Where does it say on AMCAS instructions? I think you misread it because I can't find it. But yeah, I'm pretty sure high school grades don't count.

The schools may ask in your secondary app about HS rank and ACT/SAT for survey purposes but that's about it.

it says, GPA is reported in this order: HS, FR, SO, etc...

thats where I saw HS...

I am not sure what page it is..

But someone cleared it up for me.. they meant, the GPA of college classes taken while in HS.

That's not your high school GPA, that is where you would report your grade for a college course taken while in high school.

This is correct. Other than college courses you took in high school (which you are required to report), AMCAS doesn't care about your HS GPA, nor do they ever ask for it. You are asked for the name and location of your high school, but that's it.

Correct. I remember asking lizzy M about this and that's exactly what she said 👍
