hSDN Class of 2012

The hardest part is remembering the algorithms, so repetition is your friend. Don't (seriously) attempt a 4x4 until you can solve a 3x3 by memory, as you use variations of those algorithms for the 4x4. Having someone in person teach you is ideal, but youtube has tutorials as well I assume.
EDIT: Youtube's tutorial is the same algorithm I use.

KILLED my bio 1 test today. I'll be surprised if I got less than 100

Sort of a history/logic class. Interesting, easy to study for. Exact opposite of my British Literature course. The teacher seems to focus on arcane minutae. I actually used to LIKE Dickens before this class.

I'm taking Brit lit too. I like my class though, fairly interesting and really easy.

I'm taking AP Lit. We're just finishing Pride and Prejudice. I was so excited when my teacher said we were going to read it, I adore Jane Austen and P & P is one of my favorites. 😍

Research paper thesis due tomorrow, bought the book tonight. Am I doing it right?

Hey, If you're that good, you're that good.

Hah, just found out I'm not. Woke up at 9 to get ready for school, then my printer decided to not work, so I emailed myself the paper and went to school. Turns out there was an early dismissal today, so I was 20 minutes late to class.

So, anyone doing anything cool over spring break? Because I'm not. 🙁

Lol.

I am going to D.C., and I'll also tour my father's alma mater. (VTech). I totally want to check out their medical school.

Nice, I went there last summer. Make sure you visit the Holocaust museum, it's a very interesting and humbling place.

Thanks INS, i'll make sure I do.

I love P&P! My mother is a huge classic literature nerd, read it to my sister and I when we were young.

Only a week into Beowulf, and I'm already seriously doubting the relevance of my British Literature class. I like reading, but not what we're reading.

Anyway, have you guys decided which college you're going to? I'm pretty sure that I made my final choice, and was curious to see if you guys are still deciding.

I am trying to decide between USD and SDSM&T. It is hard, but I really like the new Chem Lab at Mines, and I might be able to start researching with the Chemical Grad students as a freshman. The things that pull me to USD are the medical school and the money they have offered me. It will probably come down to the aid I recieve from mines.
What about you guys?

I have a friend at Mines, he'll be a sophomore next year, and likes it a lot. I think I'm going to Mich for sure.

AHMD, we just finished Beowulf, and agree with you whole heartedly.

I loled at the safety in the first quarter. Never have I ever seen THAT before.

Same here. Pierre-Paul is on fire!

That was some great lip syncing during half time, Last halftime show I liked was "The Who" and before that, The Goo Goo Dolls.

Agreed.

Last year's half-time show was an auto-tuning/sound nightmare.

Haha! That was hilarious! Accidentally getting a touchdown, priceless.

Lol.

I love it when they march down to the team with the trophy and they all touch it while twit-pic ing on their iPhones.

Pahaha. P&P haters gonna hate. 😛

Ouch, INS. And I thought my school was strict about attendance. I think it's five tardies = detention for us.

Sorry INS, that's a shame. Had a meeting with our schools new guidance counselor. Found out I can't apply for this awesome scholarship because I was homeschooled until senior year. :/

Haven't had a detention since freshman year. It was awful. 🙁

That sucks Cee, nothing you can do?

Well, I can appeal to the Board of Education in SoDak. The problem is that they are notoriously slow to respond, and it is doubtful I would get the award before matriculation. My guidance counselor e-mailed the man in charge of the awarding of the money, but he also rejected me.

As a former homeschooler myself, that really stinks. Does the scholarship specifically stipulate that you have to have been enrolled in a high school for the entirety of your high school career? If not, that seems more than a little ridiculous.

It doesn't, but I took the courses that qualify me for it through a homeschool program, and the state won't recognize them as legitimate classes. I wouldn't mind so much, but I took a several optional courses to qualify for it, which greatly increased my workload for those three years. FML.

Dang. That sucks. It always irritates me to hear about things like that happening to homeschoolers since more often than not they are excellent, quite above average students just as deserving of whatever opportunities their peers in the school systems have. Sorry, dude. 🙁

That means a lot Cephalopod, thanks. I am close to over it, just hoping for some karmic justice. (Kidding).

How is your application/decision process going?

Holy crap! Did you hear about that scholarship committee member that had a stroke in South Dakota? 🙂

Nice INS, I loled!

(Then googled to make sure I don't have a superpower).

Hahaha 😀

Things are going pretty well, I have one more essay to send off for an honors program app, then I'm done and it's just a matter of figuring out financial stuff and applying for miscellaneous outside scholarships. Senioritis is starting to set in for me, though. My desire to be productive and actually accomplish things has significantly decreased. 😛 How about yourself ? And everybody else too? 🙂

I haven't done calc homework or read any English this semester. 🙁

This is happening at my school as well. Then our calc teacher said if we score 90% or higher on the next three exams, we don't have to take the final. I passed the first with a 95%, so we shall see.

Nice, I'm jealous. Our final is four days long 🙁.

Wha. . . Four days? That is cruel! How many points/questions?

It is supposed to be similar to the AP test in length, and each class period is about an hour and a half. I've also an 18 page research paper for AP English and what I can assume to be a lovely all essay comprehensive final for that class. Also, it'll be finals week for my bio class. 🙁 But after that I'll be a (full time) college kid! After an awesome summer break of course! 😎

Completely off topic, but CeeEstee, does your username stand for Central Standard Time (CST)? 😀

Wow. That is cruel. We only have one block for each final, and seniors can exempt any final if they get above a 93% in that class. Couldn't imagine doing calculus for four days.

Win! +2 points for username cleverness. And +2 points to INS for figuring it out, because I probably never would have. 😀
