I normally send out individual thank you notes to each one of my interviewers after an interview. However, for the HST interviews, you get interviewed by three people at once - which makes things a lot less conversational. Normally I say things like "I enjoyed speaking with you" and "I learned at lot about the school and was pleased to see your enthusiasm towards the program" in my thank you cards but I feel like that would be weird because this wasn't really a conversational interview and the interviewers didn't really talk to me about the program at all.

I am thinking that it might be more appropriate in this case to just send 1 thank you directly to the admissions office thanking them for their time and consideration and saying how much I really liked the program after visiting. Would this be appropriate? Or should I still send out thank yous to all of the interviewers individually? If I send one to each interviewer, should I also send one to Dr. Frosch who I only spoke to for a couple of minute?

I had a 3 person interview as well, and afterwards, I went ahead and sent a thank you to each individual interviewer. I'll admit--it was a bit awkward trying to think of specific things to thank each one about, but in the end, I'm glad I did it. I don't know if it really made a difference, but I got in, so it definitely didn't hurt! The way I look at it, if you send one, you might as well send two or three--especially if you're going to second guess yourself about it later. I actually sent one directly to the admissions director, to whom I never even spoke, but who delivered a really excellent talk at the beginning of the morning. I was afraid this might make me appear a bit like a sycophant, but I'm convinced now that it helped make my app stand out just a little bit more. Who knows... but if you're even asking yourself about sending one to this Dr. Frosch person, you might as well. It definitely won't hurt, as long as it is polite and not overly-kiss@$$ or desperate-sounding.

Good luck!!!

I'm guessing you're MD/PhD? According to the school, MD invites do not go out until mid-March.

He could be talking about a panel interview at another school like Northwestern?

Where did you hear that HST MD only interview invites don't go out until mid-March? You must mean acceptances?

Thanks TheMemoirist for the advice!

Does anyone else have any opinions?
