So, the "legite" pain thread is closed. Fair enough.

However, then, a mod for the EM forum (who has posted 9 times in the last 8 1/2 months, so some folks might not be familiar with him) reopens the thread to add a "thumbs up" equivalent comment (ie, nothing new). I've seen LOTS (hundreds) of threads closed on SDN, but I don't think I've ever seen a closed thread reopened only for a mod to say that they agreed - that the thread should be closed.

Huh?

Mod works in mysterious ways

Actually probably a quirk of VB functionality. I was able to go into a locked thread in my area and the quote function was still available to me. As I don't always pay attention to the symbols around a thread, I could see it being an accident of timing. Does that make it less bothersome to you?

Interesting choice of words - you make it sound like I am emotionally invested. I found it quirky. I wasn't "bothered". If I was, I would have started another thread to belabor the point (although my OP in this thread is antithetical to that). Any "bother" is quickly outweighed by what happened on my way home from work. I was doing about 30 in traffic on H-1, when a gecko jumped on the hood of my car. I have no idea from where it came, as I was in the right-hand most lane, and the gecko jumped on the driver's side of the hood. It walked across, and, at 30mph, jumped right off. It had to be some sort of omen.

Did the Gecko offer to save you 15% on your car insurance?

I used to have a magic car, but not magic in a good way. ~'86 Honda Civic Hatchback and this thing was an animal magnet. And most of the time it was animals running into me, not the other way around. I was hit by a dog, bird, fox, mole and ran into a deer with it. I'm glad I wasn't driving that car when (as a passenger) I told my friend to pass the idiot going 20 (on backwoods MA roads) only to find out, mid-pass, that the idiot was going 20 because of the damn moose in the road.

Now it's 10 times. Thanks bud! Wow, 2 posts in a few days. I'm on a roll.

PS, yes, I didn't realize it was closed yet. I guess with my super duper mod powers, I can post on closed threads. Whooopeeeeeee. Thanks for pointing it out to me in an otherwise pointless thread topic.

Not a pointless thread at all - we welcomed you back, and got a few laughs in about lizards. Sounds about right for this forum.

That's true. I did get a kick out of the gecko comments.👍

Now, for the record, I check the forum almost daily. I don't post too much, but I am def here. Not a man of many words (to by wife's dismay).....Will try to post/participate more.....Esp after being called out on it

I don't think anyone properly recognized this hilarious horror of a pun, so I feel the need to do it. Nice work.

What I don't understand is why a mod posting in a closed thread is important enough news to start a second thread to comment about it. Seriously, not trying to be a jerk, I really don't understand the purpose of this thread. But thanks for the laughs.

Seriously...on SDN? Really? You honestly ask about "important enough news"? Have you seen the even more inane threads started daily? Mine was a question. Do you really "not understand"? Like, you cannot comprehend? I seriously doubt that you cannot process it.

Sorry, let me explain - He probably meant to say that you were being a jerk.

Wow. I've been too tired to realize the pun. Thanks for pointing it out! Now 😴

I think we need to start a third thread, discussing how unnecessary it was to have a second thread discussing how unnecessary the "legite pain" thread was to begin with. Either that or we could all go pick up some shifts in the ED and make ourselves useful. On second thought...no, that's a really bad idea. Sorry.

Sounded like he was trying to kiss someone's ass when I read it. If that is what he meant, I would say that he would do well to express himself better. I mean, it's irony - an infinite loop of "why did you bother?" - then why did YOU bother?

edit: I didn't see birdstrike's post just above.

You know what this thread is missing.

Fatty McFattypants.
There. Now there is harmony in the universe.
That is all.
🙂

No, I was trying to say that it was a serious question and that I was NOT trying to be a smart aleck or insult him. I didn't see the point of this thread, because who cares what threads the mods post in, but I thought maybe there was something I was missing. Though based on his later posts, I guess I should change my message to your interpretation. It's obviously the more applicable interpretation. Hello ignore list. 🙄

It's not just a bad idea, it's impossible. I'm a senior. We're not allowed to do anything useful between now and July. 😀

I embarrassed him in front of his children and the world by healing at a pace that this un-evolved mind cannot process. I've spent, I think, close to the last decade, I don't know, effortlessly and magically converted your tin cans into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write.
