Hey guys, so some of the schools i plan on applying to ask for a math class, 2-3 social classes and even up to 3 humanities classes. Lets say for example i have taken 2 math classes or 5 humanities classes, do i get to chose which classes go towards my pGPA. Like if they want a math class and i received an "A" in algebra and trig but i got a B in calc can i just use the algebra grade towards my pGPA, not sure how it works. Thank you for any help.

That just means out of all your classes you have to have a math class, 2-3 social classes, and 3 humanities. For PTCAS you have to list ALL of your classes, even if you've retaken them. The school will look at the classes you have taken to make sure you have taken the classes they want, but you don't get to choose the classes they take into account sadly!

It's been a few years since I applied, but I'm remembering something about choosing the basic class as your pre req (? Does this sound familiar to anyone ?). So if I took psychology 101 and got a B but then took abnormal psychology and got an A, I had to use the first psych to mark as pre req. I believe the PTCAS application instructions cover this. In your case, the A in algebra would be used over the B in Calc.

Ptcas has a set of "core pre reqs" that it calculates a pre req gpa for you based off of...the instructions are VERY specific about what to pick for these designations. Each school will calculate its own pre req gpa for you and that is the number that will matter...each school has there own method and it may or may not differ from ptcas...you could easily contact your schools and ask the, which classes they will count toward your pre req gpa, and how heavily they weight pre req gpa for that matter
