I believe that tomorrow I will begin the trek for an intern position with Publix. There are about 4 or 5 stores that I plan on visiting tomorrow.

I talked to one of Publix's pharmacy recruiters not too long ago and she said there was no official program through corporate, but that I should check with each individual store.

Anywho, I think I will be getting dressed up in slacks and a shirt (not sure about a tie?) and venture out to the nearby stores. I plan on going to introduce myself and my intentions to the Pharmacy Managers in store and then applying at the kiosk in store.

Does anyone here have any additional advice for me? Thanks!

best of luck, let me know how it goes!

Great initiative! Smile, perhaps? Be genuine...I've seen too many kiss-arse people in the interview process that appear ridiculously artificial.

So I went to a Publix yesterday to apply for an intern position.

The pharmacist manager I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. She told me that her particular store probably wouldn't need an intern until fall, but that other stores in the area might. She took the time to walk me over to the application center and after I finished applying she talked to me a little more in general about pharmacy.

I told her how I had heard nothing but good things about Publix's pharmacy and that I would love to have the opportunity to work for them. She gave me her card and took my name and number personally and said she would call to the other nearby pharmacy managers.

I feel pretty good about the whole process! What does everyone think? Should I give her a call in a few days and inquire about the progress or should I just sit tight and wait for a potential phone call? Anyone else here work at a Publix pharmacy?

Wait 1-2 weeks! Congrats, on the right path

One of my classmates dropped out of pharm school in order to become a manager for Publix. Surprising, to say the least. There may be more to the story I don't know, but your post reminded me of this. Must be a pretty good employer, I would guess.

Good Luck!

I worked for Publix for 11 years. They are fantastic employer. Pharmacy is going the walgreens/CVS direction but they are still better than most places out there.

I'm a little late but I'm pretty sure you came by the Publix I'm doing my rotation in. Small world! She seemed very impressed with you. Publix is a great place to work for! I used to work for the store she referred you to before I got into pharmacy school and the pharmacy manager is a really awesome guy (He wrote one of my letters of recommendation). Good luck with the job hunt and with school! Let me know if you have any questions about anything (I'll be a P2 in the fall).

Wow, small world it is! Well no one has called me back yet (although it has only been one week). I'm thinking about calling up to her again soon and see what the outcome was, I just don't want to be a pest.
