Consider these stats: 3.94 GPA, a 40 MCAT score, having decent extracurriculars with leadership, study abroad, 1.5 years of research, TA-ship, and significant volunteering in a clinical setting.... will having only 1 W for an organic chemistry course that I had taken during my sophomore year significantly hurt my chances in the top tier medical schools (Penn Med, U of R, and Case Western)? I had retaken the organic chemistry course during the summer and earned an A. The only reason I had withdrawn was because I had gotten a terrible upper respiratory infection that semester after returning from my study abroad.
These are obviously my reach schools and I'm especially interested in Penn Med after learning about some of the amazing global health opportunities that are available to their medical students. Also, the campus is close by family. 🙂
If I don't have a good chance, I may reconsider choosing other schools where I may have a better shot. Let me know what you think?
