First, many thanks to all of the SDNers. I looked at this site everyday and it kept my sanity.
Second, my power went out at 4:00 am last night. In my apartment complex, we have alarms for each unit. If the power goes out, these units sound their alarms until the power is restored. So from, 4:00 to 4:30, I was listening to an alarm. It was not fun.
Anyway, to the test.
My grades were very average throughout my studies. I got a 70 % QBank average, a 460 on NBME #1 and a 73 % on the Kaplan Q- simulation exam (the 8 -hour practice test at the site). I also got 80 % on all of the released items.
My test was very well spread out.
Path- 50 -55 % but most of them were straight forward. I had many questions on a certain disease (like 5). I had a lot of repro and endocrine path.
Pharm- the next highest by far, probably about 20%. Some very straight forward mechanism and receptor questions. Lots of anti-virals.
Micro- lots of easy questions for me. This and biochem were my strong points.
Molecular BIO- THE HARDEST BY FAR. on one question, i had never heard of the answer choices.
Biochem- i thought this was the easiest section on my test. Direct enzyme questions.
Physio- lots of graphs, lots of heart phys. Not a lot of respiratory however.
I am a DO student who is transferring to an MD school. My school offered the Kaplan course included for like $300, with the materials. I went to the Kaplan class, and used the books as my reference source. I then used their books to add stuff to first aid. I then knew first aid like the back of my hand.
I also used QBANK and it was awesome. I felt like I had seen most of the questions before. I know that there were no direct repeats, but they really tested the material well. I think the length of the questions and what not were very similiar to qbank.
BUT MY BEST PIECE OF ADVICE IS: DO THE RELEASED ITEMS!!!! I did this like a month ago and then I re-did them on monday. I felt like I had one or two direct repeats or at least similiar info.
Now, I get drunk!!!
